Game News

Project: Break Beak

Later half of March will be spent resuming coding, the first half is having set within the daily routine to produce at least 1 track for the game. The game is aiming to be a playable album; hope you like hiphop beats.

GAME UPDATES

Space Girl's Can't Swim

We're looking at two main tasks to complete.

1) music: composing 2 tracks and mixxing and mastering the rest.

2) sound effects: got to source a few more, integrate them and balance sound.

After that it's just polishing corners until launch.

Releases March 15


CUBEPUNKS ARCADE COLLECTION

Going to spend some time working on a compilation title of most of our games; all natively ran as well as being download versions of the games. Doing it this way allows our games to be on storefronts like Steam and the App Store while only paying one time to get the games hosted on the service. I'm also gonna try to make the menus fun and have a lot of personality (including 3D character models).


Reason why I'm doing this NOW is because there's an upcoming CON I wanna showcase the games at PLUS I'm doing intense weight loss right now and this is something I can complete while having low energy

Project: Break Beak

Basically will resume and wrap up coding when I get energy again lol. There is significantly more asset work than scripting needed for the game. Also, all gameplay progress was on building out objects rather than designing levels - bosses have jack done lol. But the menus aren't too bad.


Expect this one late April early May.

AUDIO RELEASES

Past game soundtracks are releasing slowly over time. We've gotten a lot of feedback asking for the soundtrack to be released on Newgrounds, we're fulfilling the request we're just trying not to spam upload it all lol.

Space Girls can't swim is at a point where its entirely functional. Including minigames you can do a complete playthrough of the game now. It's about 20-30 mins long and our first game that's not an arcade styled experience.

The main elements missing are minor aesthetic ones (like character name entry) and audio integration (many assets made just not implemented in game). Also getting mobile compatibility correct is ideal.


Projected release: Mid March


New soundtrack release, trickling out releases every few days.

This weekend is basically just crunching down to get the majority of this project out of the way. The timelines are completed but there's some bug testing for the triggers to make sure they all work correctly. Minigame have a large chunk of progress completed for them too.


Goal is next week is mostly audio, settings toggles and presentation refinements. Sooner this gets done, the more time march can be reserved for the platformer game project to wrap up.

Game Progress:

Given this is our first visual novel project - projected completion time. Its coming along, but some projects are more unpredictable than others and this is one of them. For example, the Dialogic Godot addon wrote over multiple scenes; timelines to be blank - so they had to be re-built/sequenced. It will release in March, but can't give an exact release date.

After this, development will be focused on finishing up the platformer project. Most of the engine is completed, its an issue of bosses, level design and assets.


Audio:

Uploads of our soundtracks will be happening on NewGrounds for the next bit. They'll be going bi-weekly for the next bit.

KageKMB has been doing game dev test run streams on his YouTube - getting the hang of it before doing them on the CubePunks channel.


If you want to see some behind the scenes work on animating in engine cutscenes in Godot, might be worth a watch.
